My one biggest problem with DotA and HoN is that the permanent meta I've seen is "get one character fed to the point where they can win by themselves". I'm not sure about you, but I don't prefer losing when the one person who didn't get completely shut down early on is the one champion that will carry their sorry asses later on in the game.

That and the community is completely abysmal. Easily 2-3x worse than LoL's.

Rant and pointless discussion aside, I don't see DotA 2 as much of a threat to LoL. The niche that LoL has is large enough that DotA 2 will have to do much more than simply copy the regular DotA to be able to do any damage to LoL's playerbase. From what I've seen of the stream today (the 10 minute segment before I fell asleep), it's not going to cut it.

I'm not worried.

N'aix is the fucking poster child for winning the game by themselves. Once he got to 6 it was game over in all lanes. The only way you beat a N'aix was saving ALL of your stuns for when his rage mode was on CD. nothing like perm armlets and fucking bonus damage from avatar to wreck so much shit in less then a minute.

Thankfully LoL doesn't have that to a point. I had a premade team going up a normal team with a twitch. He went 23-6 at the end of the game. However he lost because he jacked the majority of kills from his team and when he revealed himself, we all focused him. Then his team dropped like a ton of bricks because they didn't have the items to defend against us or even make a kill on us. And yes at the end game chat he bitched at his team for not doing anything. Well when you jacked everyone's kills yea they aren't going to do much because of it

But I'm still going to play LoL and DOTA2 because i've been a fan of them both, Given DOTA's VERY harsh community. But once you grasp the majority of the heroes you understand it better.

I like supports having to work to be supports; I guess. I mean, it's hard, but I feel you're more engaged in the game then.

Anyway, I'm gonna shut up because I'm terrible at this game.

Yeah, supports are so important its not just the carry that makes them win the game. The dedicated supports users are usually the intelligence behind the team making up strategies to win the game.

I think people from outside the games full understanding see Dota and HoN just as some game in which everything dies instantly and teamfights are just spamming ur ults and stuff until everything is dead.

That's exactly what it looks like. I'm generally not fond of HoN's art style. Makes it difficult to understand what's going on. If Dota 2 is anything like Wc3's, I imagine it wont be a problem.

I mean, I watched Dota 2 and I had no idea wtf was going and it wasn't because of the art style I just didn't know the game at all. Same for HoN, if you don't know what any heroes does you really won't understand what's going on. Same for LoL even.

That's pretty much the points a friend of mine brought up when we were talking about eSports, and how they're really trying to force LoL and the like to be eSport material with these huge tournaments and prizes. Unlike a game like SC2, where I have several friends who don't even really play the game but enjoy watching it, and know when something cool or interesting happens even without a commentator pointing it out.
