So Riot announced through facebook the prize pool for season 2.

*Insert drum roll here* 5 million dollars.

Season 1 was only 100k dollars.

Oh boy this season is going to have a billion teams participating

Imo this is a dying breath before dota2 kills the games competitive scene instantly.

So DotA2/Valve walks into a bar unexpectedly with 1 mirrion dorrahs... and then Riot comes out of the bathroom with 5 mirrion dorrahs...

What happens?

The competitive scene was always weak imo. LoL buys themself into the competitive scene and their meta-game is very boring to watch as Flash and Ghost or whatever kills action early game to force them to have a farmfest. While Dota and HoN shifted their metagame to focus more on ganking because they believe their farm will be equally as strong to static farm when ganking.

Just two days to determine the life of every other MOBA game.

I envy your position. I would be there playing Guild Wars 2 and feasting on schnitzel if I could.

I have no idea what you just said. I shouldn't be in this forum section.

Not gonna argue since it just turns out into a big discussion always for no reason. To each their own but I like League of Legends more than the others. (I played DotA for a long time in Venezuela and I tried HoN when it became free now). Still prefer League.

I guess LoL is fun casually but to people who play it competitively its a different story =P.

Like I said, to each their own opinion. Besides you cannot compare League of Legends and DotA completely as even though they are both MOBA games, their completely different from each other. Its like comparing two FPS shooters that have nothing to do with each other just that their both FPS shooters.

You might have found League not "competitive enough", but I can find it pretty competitive with the kind of matches I go to with my clan.

Just one last thing and I'm done :o. Back in Venezuela DotA was the least user-friendly game I ever played (Before I learned english), where I'm sure League would of been easier to understand.

SC2 is like the hardest competitive game in the world. Its perfect, MOBAs are just getting more popular, they are fun to watch too but Starcraft 2 really deserves a lot as well.

BW is a lot harder, but it's dying. SC2 still has some imbalances, but it can be worked out.

My one biggest problem with DotA and HoN is that the permanent meta I've seen is "get one character fed to the point where they can win by themselves". I'm not sure about you, but I don't prefer losing when the one person who didn't get completely shut down early on is the one champion that will carry their sorry asses later on in the game.

That and the community is completely abysmal. Easily 2-3x worse than LoL's.

Rant and pointless discussion aside, I don't see DotA 2 as much of a threat to LoL. The niche that LoL has is large enough that DotA 2 will have to do much more than simply copy the regular DotA to be able to do any damage to LoL's playerbase. From what I've seen of the stream today (the 10 minute segment before I fell asleep), it's not going to cut it.

I'm not worried.

Metagame has changed. Its not longer one hero farming to get fed. Its more focused on heavy ganking now, which seems to work very well and probably even better. =P
