The Gauss Rifle.
The gauss has always, until recently but still, has been the underachiever weapon of S4. It really got its use back on fail patch-Scene 2, Gauss Gets Autoaim Take-4. The gauss is a powerfull weapon and shouldn't be taken lightly. It doesn't need autoaim to hit targets, just decent aim. One clip(25shots) could easily take out 4-5 enemies. I'm just here to shed some light about our overlooked friend.
-Note- This guide is more than likely baised on my playstyle and decisions. This guide isn't here telling you how to play just a suggestive thought you might want to consider.

Running Speed - 83% Shooting Movement Speed - 58% Reload Time - 2secondsThis table was taken from S4Project Wiki of the Gauss.
Control Your Weapon The gauss shots a 5 bullet spray pattern. It fires single shots per click. It has some spraying capabilities, but isn't recommended by this guide. Aiming the gauss is probaly the strangest thing, because of its vertical spread. This gun will never shoot left to right no matter how much you hope and pray/spray. The first shot of the gauss is deadeye accurateto the crosshair. The next shot moves veritcal a little up until the 4th shot. The 5th shot, RetardShot, shoots an inch above the crosshair making it widely inaccurate shot.
Normal SMG spraying won't provide you with the best of the gauss's ability here. This gun, though rapid firing, best relies on 2-3 click shooting. The 1st and 2nd shot are closly deadon. The 3rd being a little off from the second along with the 4th. There isn't a need to shoot a gauss past the 3rd shot, unless your garenteed a hit. It's just wasted ammo that won't do you any good.
Hey Cousins! The heavy weapon cousin of the hmg. Gauss is a potential crowd killer, or a sniping hero! The gauss's damage is higher than the smgs but lower than the hmgs. Its like a semi and an hmg. Power and Distance, who could go wrong with that!?
HMG's Sidekick
The gauss has the "potential" to crowd control. The "POTENTIAL!" I can't stress that enough. The gauss doesn't shoot bullets as fast as the other automatic weapons. This lowers the "mobbing" rate, but allows for precision in your aim to deal more crits and chest shots.Let's take station 2 for example; Teammate has the ball, your coming up from the ramp. There's a spam of cs and ps stuns. Chances are your going to want to take out as many as you can and try to score. Remember your not using it to rush at this point. Knowing people are in their melee delay stance, heres your chance to strike. -This is the only time I recommened L-Click Hold- Spam your L-Click and try to get close as possible without leaving yourself to wide open. This ensures that all 4 of your attacks hits and the varies of the 5th one, because that gets hard to determine under "Fumbi Pressure." Aim for the chest and head areas. Hitting the legs is a really handicap in situations like those seem to do the least amount of damage. And ensures someone surviving a full clip if they have near to full health.
Gauss Sniper!
Unlike its counter cousin the Semi-Rifle, the gauss isn't equipped with a zoom function. This makes sniping a bit more difficult to do, but possible none the less. It's best to aim for the chest area since your oppenents will look small and unclear. Gauss sniping spots are basically the same as all other sniping spots. Here are a few examples of some in game.

You've Got A Friend In Me Bind
Bind is a very unique skill in S4. It requires pin point accuracy and deadlock timing. Bind also is the only skill in S4 that complements gauss more than any other weapon I've seen thus far. Bind has the unique ablity to hold an enemy player in one spot for 3 seconds. The enemy does have the ability to shoot and run in place still making them a threat to you. Bind doesn't go through shields. If an anchor or flyer is bound they are forced to move directly up. Learn more about bind visit Unraveling's guide to bind here.
Skill Setup
There's a variation of skill setups you could use with gauss. As stated, it's a mid-long range weapon. I'm just going to put out some I recommend.
-Note- These setups assume you have decent aim with gauss unless stated otherwise.
Gauss/Hg/Semi+Bind
My personal favorite set. Gauss doing massive damage upclose and afar and semi-rifle to finish'em off. Handgun to keep up to speed if I have to go on the offensive side of the team. It's a well rounded set, good defence, but requires alot of aim. Not recommened if your aim with gauss and/or bind isn't up to speed.
Gauss/Hg/Rev/BSG+30Hp/SpMastery
This set, not one I truely care for, but has proven useful at the beginning stages of gauss. It's mainly to get your accuracy down pack. Gauss doesn't have scatter fire as mentioned before and your focused on 2-3 click shots. So yea, hand in hand.
Gauss/Sentry/Railgun/Cannon+Shield
This build as the one above focus on pin point aim. What weapon could better help you with that? Well railgun of course. More or less cannon depending on how you use it. Sentry is there if your aim with gauss and sniper just isn't up to par. Shield, comes in handy when you need to get out of that nasty delay between switching weps with sniper and gauss, also providing decent cover and longivity in life.
Gauss/CS/HMG+Shield/+30Hp
The Overpowered, delayed, crowd control set. This has to be one set, I would call a "monster." This set is good at defending, back up, offence, and purely nicely rounded if your aim with gauss is up to par. Shields there to stop the gun delays. I'm not very fond of melee of any sort, but we have cs in this for the speed and its crowd control, it just works ok? A true build to master.
