Rant forum rules.
Note that while these rules are here, they won't necessarily be strictly enforced. Its up to a particular moderator. Unless its a blatant contradiction, that is. Enforcement of all these rules are up to said moderator's discretion.
First, we'll start off with a generic self-produced FAQ.
For those who aren't aware, OP=opening post, also known as TC (topic creator).
1. What is a "rant forum"?
A rant forum is, as the name implies, a forum where you can rant about things.
2. Can we rant about anything in the rant forum?
Mostly, yes. However, if a topic is ridiculous to an extent that its beyond any possible realm of truth (in an offensive context), it will be removed.
3. It seems to me as if a rant forum will produce a lot of drama. Why is it here, then?
Thats a good point! However, with good moderation, a rant forum can remain relatively clean while still being popular. Indeed, rant forums tend to be among the most populated sub-forums in a forum if monitored correctly. Especially in PvP orientated games such as S4, where human interaction is constant.
The rant forum is here for people to rant. Sometimes, you just want to get your issues out of your head. Sometimes, you just want to know that people are listening. Thats what the rant forum is for. And, of course, so much more.
4. Well, if this rant forum is for ranting, can we cuss? I usually swear when I'm ranting, so...
This is a touchy subject. The person creating the topic is allowed to cuss in the opening post. This does NOT mean that other posters may follow the OP's example. We understand that swearing is an important part of conveying emotions, but we simply cannot allow it to be a place where people needlessly swear because they can "get away with it".
5. Is the rant forum for everyone?
Obviously, we cannot enforce age limits on the rant forum. However, we will warn you that there could possibly be explicit posts in the rant forum. So, basically, browse..if you think you can handle it.
6. Can I rant about how much, say, I hate asians(I picked asians because since I'm asian, nobody will accuse me of being racist)?
No. Discriminatory rants are not allowed. Rants that will offend a large group of people (basically a reiteration of discriminatory rants) are not allowed. This doesn't mean you can't rant about, say, why asians are so good in math (a common rant subject). Obviously, the topic is asinine and stereotypical, but you're the one leaving yourself open to debate/argument/criticism, so go for it. Once it goes into the territory of discrimination, however, its closed.
7. What is a "discriminatory rant"?
A discriminatory rant is a rant that's based around sexist/racist/etc ideals. Obviously this is a hard thing to classify...Let me set some broad standards.
Additional rules may be added to this as time goes along. I don't expect people to attempt to exploit the lack of documentation on this one rule, however, if someone attempts it, know that a mod can determine whether it is discriminatory based on his or her own's standards, even if it isn't one of the two listed standards.
8. Wow, it sounds as if we can't even rebut the OP...is it really that lame?
No. You may rebut the OP. You may dispute the OP's case. You may, in fact, call the OP a liar. Just make sure you don't flame him/her ("OMG UR SO DUM NOOB WOW URE A DU M FGT OLOLOL"). There is a thin line between criticizing and flaming. Its up to you to discover it.
9. May we mention the names (or heavily allude to) the people we're ranting about?
No, you may not. The rant section is not a place where you foment drama just because you're mad. Its a place where you can achieve some sort of catharsis and gain sympathy for your troubles. There is no need to put down specific names, nor is there any need to heavily allude to the person in question. Once again, the rant forum is for purging your negative emotions...not for building up popular contempt for people, or subtly attacking people's decisions (related to S5 or not). This is more about directly referring to people who are involved in the game/involved in S5, however. Politicians, companies, and so forth aren't as restricted since that isn't as likely to lead to immediate drama, but nonetheless, be cautious if you're going to walk down that road.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------
In summation, rules specific to the Rant Forum are:
Its important that you all realize that although there are rules specific to the rant forum here, the general rules that aren't contradicted with these rules are still very much in effect.
Note that while these rules are here, they won't necessarily be strictly enforced. Its up to a particular moderator. Unless its a blatant contradiction, that is. Enforcement of all these rules are up to said moderator's discretion.

In summation, rules specific to the Rant Forum are:
- The TC may swear in the OP of the thread. Nothing more.
- You, OBVIOUSLY, may not flame the TC, nor anyone.
- You cannot post discriminatory rants. If you're unsure of what classifies as a discriminatory rant, look at the FAQ, question 7.
- You may rebut/question/critisize the TC if you wish. However, know that what one considers critisizing can be considered flaming by another. Tread lightly.
