Hello there, S4 players. Summer has arrived and I bet all of you are eager to hit the center stage and show everyone your moves. But… not without the monthly patch! Let’s see what Pentavision has in store for us, shall we?


A challenger appears! Enter the Smash Rifle!

This strange new weapon functions as both an automatic gun and a melee weapon. One of this weapon's attacks fires a rapid automatic spray of needles, and has a carrying clip of 50 bullets. The other attack uses the Smash Rifle to whack the enemy, knocking them back and dealing a good amount of damage in the process. No other weapon in S4 has this unique dual functionality. Be sure to try out the new Smash Rifle!

S4 Trivia: So what did 256 and 823,543 mean? 4^4= 256 and 7^7 is 823,543. If you notice in the pictures, the enemy Smash Rifle has a two 4s and the teammate's Smash Rifle has two 7s. Good hint, huh?

Get yourself revamped! New clothes added!

We all have seen the old Activity Pants, Midfield Jacket, Frock Shape Jacket, and White Baseball Pants. Well, now we have the new Activity Pants Type A, Midfield Jacket Type A, Frock Shape Jacket Type A, and White Baseball Pants Type A. These new variations include new color designs, as well as stylish new additions to the clothing structure.

Prefer female clothing? Don't fret, for this update also contains several new female clothing items. Now available is the "Net Sphere Scientist" outfit, taken from the double-crossing woman in KrS4's Arcade Mode. This update also gives us the Sportimaier Type A and Indian Mode Type A clothing sets, spiced-up versions of the popular Sportimaier and Indian Mode outfits.

Gauss Rifle taken down to its normal state

The jack of all trades gun, the Gauss Rifle, had a bug where its colored versions had the bursting functionality. This caused it to have improved accuracy combined with a high damage output. This bug has been corrected with this update.

Subject: 11 vs. 1 hits EU! Here comes...the Chaser!

Hello everyone, Reiki here.

We had hinted to a summer release of the Chaser Mode in early May that it would be coming this summer. However, do to emergency issues, it was pushed back from its intended July release to August. Next month, you'll be able to experience the thrilling and death-defying antics only capable in the Chaser!

As you can see from these pictures, players who are infected by the Reaper virus will have a .hackish sort of look on the players. They will show up as infected players and your whole mission is to destroy them. Players are chosen at random at the beginning of the round.

While infected players have unthinkable amounts of power. The infected player or known as the chaser, must fight players within a time limit. To aid him, a giant eye from the virus will keep track of the opponents with the highest points. Players have a limited amount of lives as well, they must guard their lives through the entire round and be the last one or no one will get points. If they can survive the chaser long enough, they win. If they defeat the chaser, they get extra points at the end of the round.

So a summary:

*Chaser is chosen at the beginning of the round at random.
*Players are given only one life per round
*The game ends if the chaser defeats all of the players or the players survive till the end.
*The Chaser has incredible abilities like speed boosts, extended HP, and super powerful attacks
*The Chaser's partner, the reaper for now, is able to steal HP from the enemies you kill.

So what can EU expect from EU's Chaser Mode? Well, the Reaper is not the only one. There are two more viruses floating around waiting to be used...You'll have to check out some of our older articles, but here's a preview of them. Get set for: The Joker and "Alice and Bebe" viruses!

Subject: YOU are the Chaser! Clan System joins the frenzy!

Harro there! It’s that time of the month again! Yup, it’s time for the monthly S4 patch! Don't fret, because you won’t be disappointed this time! Pentavision has a lot of things in store for us, S4 Leaguers.

Come on baby, don't fear the reaper~
The long awaited 11 v 1 mode, known as the Chaser Mode hits center stage! For those who don’t know how this new mode works, here’s a description.

In this mode, there are eleven players that fight against one player. This one player (the Chaser) is chosen at random, at the beginning of each match. Sounds pretty unfair, right? But there’s a trick to it! This rather lonely player will be possessed by a virus which will give him enormous boosts in power, defense and speed! Another cool feature is that the rest of the eleven regular players have a .hackish sort of look. Seems like the odds are more even now, right?

The Chaser will have to defeat the remaining players with a three(3) opponent minimum, in a certain amount of time (which ranges from 1 to 2 minutes). If the Chaser beats an opponent, he/she gets 2 points. But if the Chaser defeats the player with the highest score (the Chaser will see a green crosshair on the player), he/she wins 4 points. The round ends earlier if the Chaser manages to beat all of the eleven players!

But what about the other eleven players? They can't just go run away like a bunch of chicken, can they? Well, you can either hide from the chaser, hoping he doesn’t find you OR you can attack the Chaser in hopes of killing him/her and win points!

By running away, you are trying to drain the timer as quick as you can. This could eventually get you a maximum of 15 points, but you can win even more if you use that time in your advantage. Just get out there and strike him/her with all your might! Attacking the Chaser will fill a blue and white gauge located under the clock. Filling the gauge completely will give you two points. Those points will be added to a “rank”, depending on which weapon made the most damage, only available in that specific game. You will be ranked according to how much of those points you have (your overall rank), which will net you more PEN!

According to your performance in that round, you get points. You win 15 points if you survive the whole round. If you die but someone else survives the ferocious attack of the Chaser, you get 5 points. If no one gets out of it alive, no regular player wins any point. Remember, you CAN beat the chaser. If you happen to deliver the final blow, you’ll win a total of 20 points in the end. You can also earn assist points for killing the Chaser.


Time to get down to business, Club Style!
That's right sports fans, the moment we have all been waiting for has finally arrived! We bring you the Club System. This new system will allow players the opportunity to get together and form clans/guilds/clubs, but that's not all. The club system will also provide players will detailed information of ALL of the clubs that are registered in the system. Of course, this also means that the "F4" or "Clan Chat" function will now be available. Now you can have fun playing S4, while chatting with all your club mates. This should definetly bring more friendly competition into our lives!

Examples of one-of-a-kind emblems won in a "Mark Battle".

No club is complete without their very own Emblem. Clubs can now choose from various emblems by using a generic generator. You can also win cool and interesting emblems, similar to the ones up above, by taking part in certain "Mark Battle" events. These emblems are also a tool for advertisement, for when a player scores a touchdown their club emblem will shine over their heads. Pretty neat stuff huh? For now, a club can only have 10 people in it, but according to the EU S4 Staff, they say that won't stay the cap for very long.

So S4 Leaguers...get out there, create teams and show us why your club is number#1!


Improvements to the S4 League client!
Lastly, the S4 League client's netcode has been tweaked and improved, solving many of the issues that plagued previous versions. The exact details on what this update changes are unclear, but we know that it will fix several bugs and exploits that were found in previous versions of the S4 League client. The revamping of the netcode had been mentioned around February in the Korean S4 League's QA section, and it was originally to be released earlier this year, but various delays caused its release to be pushed back until now. Though European S4 League may have a more diverse and widespread range of players than the Korean version, this innovative change to the netcode should provide us with improvement and a positive outcome.


The end of the PEN perm system
With this new patch, we will no longer be able to buy permanent weapons or clothes from the regular PEN shop. Weapons in the shop are now sold for 5, 10, or 30 hour usage increments at cheaper prices than usual. Clothes are now sold for 1, 7, or 30 day durations at cheaper prices. However, permanent weapons and clothes will still be obtainable through the Fumbi Shop. Thankfully, any permanent weapons and clothes that you have previously purchased will stay permanent.

However, there's an upside to it. The prices for the rented items are very cheap! Much cheaper than the usual 5,000 for the same amount of time. Also, the clothes you rent with PEN can give stat boosts to all the weapons you're wearing, not just one! Everything adds a bit of flavor to the mix so give it a try and see how ya' like it!

New information about the new S4 patch has been brought to our attention. If you didn’t like this huge patch, don’t be afraid: there’s much more coming and we promise you won’t be disappointed!

Mission improvements!
Yes, that’s right. Missions will be improved. No, there won’t be more mission levels for you. Instead, Pentavision translated all the missions to all the languages available in S4. And on top of that, you are now able to do missions in the Normal channel, where weapons do more damage, but you move slower, making it much easier to aim and do those annoying weapon kill missions!

Quick Exit, for when you really gotta go
Do you hate waiting for the post-game results to end? Tired of having to endure emotespam by the winning team? Well, this patch provides us with a useful solution: Quick Exit. Quick Exit, a feature already present in the Korean S4 League, allows you to leave the result screen early.

A new way for you to play S4!
We now have extra options for "Weapons Restrictions" when we create rooms. Previously, we were only able to select the options of Swords Only or S4 League (all weapons useable). Now we can choose Super League, where no installation or mind weapons are allowed, except for Mind Shock. Also available is the option of Rookie League, where only basic weapons and skills are available, such as HMG, HP+, and SP+.

The Reaper follows you...EVERYWHERE!
Due to the installment of Chaser Mode in the European Division, we can't leave a little someone behind now can we. For those who want to feel like a Chaser all the time, you can now purchase the Demon "Reaper" Virus from the AP shop.

The death of double logging
Along with the netcode improvements, we have a solution for the issue of double logging. Now, when you are double-logged in, as a result of a sudden disconnection.... or otherwise, you are given the option of terminating the extra connection. This prevents a previously possible form of AP item manipulation, among other things.

Implementing the Directional Shot Interface
I'm pretty sure when I speak for everyone when it comes down to being killed.... "Where are these bullets coming from!?" Be puzzled no more, because this new interface will help you solve all of your problems. When you are hit with any weapon, red shapes (similar to trapezoids) will appear on your screen. These shapes will only appear for a small amount of time and they indicate as to where the bullets/slashes are coming from. Pretty nice, huh?

Subject: Why so serious? Arrest the Joker!


The nefarious Joker rises from the abyss!
The first content on this patch is the dreaded Joker Chaser. Don't get too close to it, or you'll get shredded to pieces as it morphs into a sadistic clown! These two are two sides of the same card, but while one of them increases your reloading speed, the other's abilities are yet to be revealed! The second you start attacking, you'll go from a beautiful and tricky girl virus to a menacing and destructive clown virus. Master this new Chaser and win the day!

There is a downside to it, though: this Chaser is only available if you buy the Joker doll on the AP Shop. It seems to have the same costs as the Reaper doll in the European version of the game. For those who don't know, here are the prices:

We move in circles, on a gleaming razor’s edge… Welcome to Circle-2.
That’s right ladies and gents, the popular Chaser Circle map, known as Circle-2, arrives on the European scene. This map is a revamp of the original map made for Deathmatch. It’s somewhat bigger and some walls have been built around the Chaser respawn, so it’s much easier to run away if you know how to! Hold on tight, or else you’re gonna fly!

Behold the new Shop!
I guess everyone is trying to renew their ideas these days (looks at S5 Anniversary Contest...). Anyways, The S4 League Shop will be restructured with a brand new interface. It's more like an asthetic make-over rather than an update to the shop itself (when it comes to the PEN and weapon prices). Let's see what Pentavision has instore for us this time.

While many of the new features have been completely revamped, some are quite the same. You can select clothing and view it on one side. However, you'll get some detailed information about the weapon. On a 100% percentage scale, you can estimate the stats of the weapon you'll be wielding. Although they're not all 100% accurate and do not calculate +X clothing and weapons, it will tell you a great deal of the changes this will be to your playstyle. Again, don't let the skill level define your actual skill in game. It's you who decides how well you play.

Another noticeable change is the Fumbi Shop. When you use the chance meter for clothing, you will be able to choose from a select group to get what you want out of it. If you want pants, you can click the pants button and only the pants will show. However, this also has its downside. Hair will not be available for chancing.

Another key addition is the Nickname change and K/D Ratio reset items. These are very useful items which allow you to start over in terms of identity and score. If you're a competitive player, these will come in handy and at a cheap price. When you change your nickname, your previous nickname will be reserved so it's likely you may not be able to go back to it again.

New Clothes, Skins and much more.
New costumes and skins have been added to the Fumbi Shop and the AP Shop. To top off this really awesome shop, the Adventure and Tender Spots sets, also known as the Enforcer sets in the Korean version, are now available in both shops. The list also includes the new netsphere pirate clothes (comes in white and purple).

Some weapons also get a new face: three new skins for Plasma Sword, two for the Senty Nell, one for the Handgun, three for the Smash Rifle and one new Sentry Gun skins have been added to the Fumbi and AP shop. And for those wondering, yes, Handgun, Senty Nell and Smash Rifle are now available on the Fumbi Shop and AP Shop, with all the boosts other weapons in those shops have. Be sure to pick them up!

Subject: Battle Royale and bees everywhere!


Battle Royale comes to WeS4
Along with a change in name (from EuS4 to WeS4) to incorporate the new North American servers, Battle Royale is also making an appearence in this fulfilling patch. As many of you are quite aware of, Battle Royale is the new Free for All battle style. All twelve players will be facing each other in a head to head combat without help from anyone else!

The game mechanics of Battle Royale are fairly simple. Your objective is to achieve the most kills within the time limit, or to reach the set score of the room. But be careful, for the player with the highest score in the room is also the "target". The top player will have a target system on them (similar to the target system in Chaser). It's easier to find and/or kill the target. Killing the target successfully will grant you 5 points. Killing players that aren't the target will give you 2 points. An assist will score you 1 point.

Along with this new mode you can expect the map, Galleon, to make an appearance. This Battle Royale only map is fairly huge, and is perfect for free for all matches. There are some areas in the map that are off-limits, but it is enticing none the less.

Got too many coupons in your inventory? Well then, you don't have to wait for a coupon event to make use of them anymore? This new patch will introduce the Coupon Shop, where you can spend your coupons to win other items! Some items are exclusive to this store, such as the Taser Sword, a cool-looking Plasma Sword reskin.

With this new patch, you will be able to use bees as a weapon... No, it's not a new weapon. It's a Sentry Gun G-Capsule!

Along with this novelty, you can also buy a Sentry Gun Type-A G-Capsule, a black and yellow Sentry Gun. However, if you choose to get these G-Capsules, you're better off buying the first one... if not only for people with apiphobia who will run away at the very moment they spot a bee...


New sets!
You can now also buy 4 new costume sets from the AP Shop, 2 for men and 2 for women. You can get the Pirate Set and the New Sphere Set for men and the Fist and CheckShield Set for women. Beginners will also be able to buy a Beginner Set with a Plasma Sword, Semi Rifle, Sub Machine Gun, HP Mastery and Shield, only for 1995 AP! However, this will only be available for players up to level 5 and may be purchased twice.
