You can really look for your answers through the forums history.

But really isn't it all down to skill? Everyone is different no matter what time they started playing.

What kind of stupid question is this?
Obviously old players. Newer ones are mostly crybabies.

Statistically speaking, old players are better. REALISTICALLY speaking, neither.

New players complaining about how others have better everything.
Old players bashing on everyone, yet crapping themselves up.

All depends on who, really.

And also depends how old/new. I've been playing for years but I'd probably be considered new, right? I think in St2, new players would have an equal chance of winning. Anything other than maybe st1/n1 DM would probably go in favor of old players.

Unless youre talking about retired old players. Then I would bet on new players. Unless you're talking about rookies....

Yeah ok your question is too broad. -___-

You might want to go to page 3; where most of the old vs new rant starts to form.

It depends, current old players (without bringing back certain people) vs new players (not noob new players)?
Hands down
New players.

Why? Because most of them are still evolving how they play, they havn't been tainted by retarded worthless moves and skills. Where as not many old players tend to change how they play, they have gotten their mode, and don't really change from it. And since the new players play with old players everyday, they see the same shit over and over again, it gets easy to predict, where as if you never seen a player before you can't really decide/know how to counter them.

IF we took some of the retired oldest players vs new ones
Old Players.

Why? The Oldest players have never played with the new players. The New players probably havn't seen gameplay or skill like the retired players. They wouldn't know how to react to being rolled so easily. I mean even when retired players play a game or two, they tend to top the room all the time. They had something that new players or even 'older' players can never have.

Just my opionion thought, take it as you want.

In most circumstances, older players are going to win. Most of the oldies that were really good are just far superior skill wise compared to almost everyone new/recently played and most of them have quit/barely play anymore. I can hardly think of that many people that even come close to decent, outside of S5 and people I know that are good.

Most of the "new gen" of s4 players just aren't good...nobody has high standards for playing anymore. :v

From what I've seen:

Old Players at their prime > New players at their prime.

and yeah what DHA said, everyone quit cuz theres barely any competition anymore

EDIT: I lost all my screenshots from like before GUI change but heres the most recent one from my "LETS PLAY S4 FOR 2 DAYS AND NOT TOUCH IT AGAIN FOR MONTHS!"

This is not for Egoing ,it's to support my argument.

Keep in mind My current skill is very low due to inactivity and not caring!
Spoiler

Theres still a few great gems out there like Modpc and 2S though aside from a few remaining oldies, not alot of new players are all that impressive.

The S4 Community in it's current state does not want to help each other improve. Instead, the "domineering" ones create stacked rooms (thats been around since forever though, so..) and the new generation who are exposed to alot of hacks and stuff simply classify something they cant match as a hacker/lagger/abuser/etcetc. Also, the dependency on AP is rather Rampant, Wherein you'll see alot of people doing okay/bad with a normal set, and HAVE to switch to full Prem +triple FP just to keep up in the second half. So This is sending the wrong message to the newer generation, Insteaad of improving their gameplay/awareness/aim/teamwork, they just swipe their credit cards just to feel like they can make a difference.

put 2 and 2 together, you now have a little elitest mindset that goes YAAYAYAYA AP PUBHERO YESSS and not "Hey man Lets improve our game by sparring naked!"...which leads to a different standard of Who's good and who's isnt.

EDIT EDIT: Hell, there was a couple gun rooms who called me a "bridge noob" for using the bridge on ST2...I didnt know that was noobish to do until now. Hell, in SO now a days you'll see titles like NO CS/TB/BREAKER/YOURMOM NO BRIDGE/RAIL/RAMP ST2 STAIR ONLY...These little limitation farther hurts the community in a very obvious way:

1) You are now creating a legion of Stair Heros who has barely any regards for teamwork.
2) You lose the ability to learn matchups between different weapons from experience.
3) You won't break the fucking bridge because you think people won't use it.

If you put it in a Guns game prespective, its mainly about OMG ANCHOR:
1)Shoot the bitch down before they get their anchor off.
2)Shoot the bitch down when they reach their anchor destination.
3)Shoot the bitch down if it's in St2, they have a CS, and will Most likely do an air attack in the goal. THEY'RE STATIONARY FOR A GOOD AMOUNT OF TIME.
....

People who complain about anchor will not do ANY of those things...for god knows why :/

It's stuff like that holding the community down, + the divide in "Pros' to "newbies".

Wow holy shit now that I think about it theres a ton of communial problems, Lets all go play TF2 with caution yayaayyaa

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say I'm oldest player and I'm certainly terrible. Once you're past 20, things just go downhill.

Also you kids should get off my lawn!
