A bit late but here we go with the next Weekly Metagame Exercise, this time : The Stormbat

You know that thing, there's quite a bunch of Stormbat fans out there, but it's rarely used in competitive matches, why is that?

Use the Stormbat for a while, evaluate your thoughts and comment here!

Storm Bat, the True S4 Weapon. Storm strike, swing, and spin.

Err... Anyways...

For a weapon that is most likely not as heavy as the other melee weapons, the bat is pretty slow in some cases. Its main advantage is that left click immediately switches to heavy attack phase and sends them further, faster. Definitely favorable over the Plasma Sword's heavy. Also, it's jump strike attacks fast and does a considerable amount of damage. However, being still for a while due to its slow recovery makes it risky. It also somewhat lacks in range. It's spin attack is definitely unique among all of the other melee attacks. Still, it's a tricky move to use properly for most people, such as myself.
Overall, this weapon requires solid knowledge to be effective, in my opinion.

Took about an hour playing with it. Still love it....it's just been over shadow'd by the Breaker. It's just faster and more efficient in what it does. Storm bats literally the bat your dad got you 2 years ago that you don't use anymore.........

If you can't 1 hit there's no point to it.

Stormbat is my favorite melee weapon to use
It's just so god damn satisfying to hit someone with the left click

But its damage is way too low against premium armor for it to be viable in pubs, and for competitive play the other melee weapons offer more than the storm bat does (specifically, dagger has quick-high damage attacks with fastest melee move speed, no need to explain cs, and PS has high versatility and the ps dash for movement)

With that said, I think most people do not know how to use Storm Bat to its fullest potential
The right click's delay scales with how many times you use it (1 being very little delay, 2 being slightly longer, and 3 being unreasonable amount of delay for its damage and effects)

It is actually extremely essential to learn how to use the right click for quick approaches, moving away, finishing enemies off, and interrupting attacks

If I would make any changes to the storm bat for competitive play it would be to buff its right click in some way (add some damage and a bit of range, or make it move faster, etc)

The right click lets you move through opponents when scoring. That used to be something.

Styx--I totally didn't know that! >:o Awesome tip.

Anyway, I fockin' love bat!!! :D but it's kinda hard to use... There were several instances when I fought bat vs. ps or cs, and when I began to swing first, I still got hit first. I'm not sure if that is due to bat having a slower attack speed or less range. The swing and whirlwind are a little slower, but at least you still have mobility by being able to dodge + swing. I don't mind that there is no light slash, but I do think it's super weak against premium buffed players (if you're wearing PEN yourself).

Right click can be useful to maneuver away after an attack--like off a platform, assuming your opponent will be stunned and unable to chase you. I have personally never done this, but had it done to me. xD Spin might also disrupt some opponents' moves with it; I believe my friend once somehow interrupted my bat's jump attack with her bat's spin.

I don't know what to do with it, but I think it definitely doesn't need a nerf.

Former SB player back when I played SO. It's a nice weapon with a lot of power behind it, but it's just overshadowed by other melee weapons. It's slow recovery and range holds it back from being a dominant melee weapon. However, dagger pretty much became the one-hit tool of melee, TB's jump attack provided an alternative for defense (which bat excelled at) along with good offensive options, and the Breaker put the "nail in the coffin" with it's very fast jump attack, which was one of the bat's unique traits. PS and CS always gave bat some trouble, but the new melee weapons just shut any bat options down. It still has it's spin movement, which is pretty useful with dealing with groups while still moving, and it's +1 movement still provides options to rush with it.

SB just falls behind in everything now. It's at a disadvantage in every melee fight that isn't another bat and there's better options to take another melee for defending.
