So, I've had been dating this guy for a year. We're both pretty easy going, like we both just like hanging out and stuff. However, whenever I have art galleries and stuff that keeps me from hanging with him, he freaks out and gets all clingy. Now, this annoyed me, but hey, I loved the guy, so I let it go. Not to mention, four months after we started dating, he had to go to Germany for two weeks, then when he got back, he had to focus on College Entrance exams and stuff. So, for about a month or two we didn't hang out at all. I missed him, but I knew this was important to him, so I just sat there and took it. Now, when I have to get busy with art galleries and portfolios for college, he starts getting clingy about how little time we spend. I mean, it's only been two or three weeks, and I'd like to think we're at the point in our relationship where we can be comfortable knowing each other has lives and has things to do, and it doesn't mean we're out cheating on them or avoiding the other. So, every time I see him or log onto my skype, he bombards me with "I miss you Q_Q" and stuff. It gets to the point where since it's the last two weeks before the gallery deadlines I actually DO start avoiding him because he's gotten way to clingy. Three days after I start avoiding him, I realize how stupid I'm being and log onto skype to call with him to apologize for being so busy and stuff. The moment I log in, I get a novel explaining the reasons why he wants to break up. He told me "He couldn't be with me anymore because we never spent time together." He went on and on about how he loved me, but he couldn't be in this kind of relationship anymore. It was so dramatic, I felt like I was the boy and he was the girl for a moment. I was basically like "wtf?" So, after he broke up with me... over fucking skype, the text part, not even a stupid call... he approached me the next day, asking if he could say "I love you' one more time. I told him "No," and walked away. And as I walked away, I slapped a girl on the ass and told her to give me a call sometime :l

TLDR: Men are dicks. Who the fuck ends a year long relationship over skype? I'm through with men and becoming a lesbian. Any takers?

So yeah, what are your thoughts on guys like this?

Sadly, there are PEOPLE, not just men, out there who are like that, they seem to think they are the most important thing in people's life and if they are not, then they get mad/clingy/annoying till they are again, I'm not going to say give up men because of what happened, however you'll always find people like that, even some girls are like that aswell, just ditching men may not solve anything, I know this is WAYYY overused, but you just gotta wait till ya find the right one, regardless of gender :P, anyways good luck, and don't feel bad about that guy, obviously he made himself not worth it.

I don't think you should generalize the whole population of men based on one or a few experiences; there is quite a large variety of "fish in the sea" out there in the world.
Perhaps one day, if you decide to try your hand at dating people of the opposite gender again, you'll find someone who is less insecure and more understanding.

Trolling aside, this. Completely understandable to break up because of time spent with each other, but the reaction was uncalled for. To me, I see no pants or dicks in this relationship.

It's not just men, really, It's probably just how he is, the one time I was in a relationship I was clingy as hell so I can relate, love can turn into this horrible obsession over your special someone and it makes you dumb as hell, also he probably didn't have the courage to break up with you in person so he decided to do it online. I don't think you should turn into a lesbian because of this.

And as far as clingy goes, yea I understand the necessity to be together and communicate as much as possible, but sometimes

you need some space.
