i've been playing again recently; pubs are one of the most iconic things about S4 in that they always get worse.

i was in a st-2 not five minutes ago. there were three people on my team with anchor that reminded me of lemmings. all i heard the whole game was "RESET! RESET!" since all three of them did nothing but camp train and attempt to basic anchor the whole game--literally. i ended up switching out of CS into HG near half time so i could actually rush in place of them.

we ended up losing. why? because when i killed one of the other team's runners and forced a reset with around 20 seconds left, ALL THREE OF THEM camped train, tried to basic anchor, and got sniped. i actually ended up scoring, but oh what do you know it didn't count because lemmings #1-3 managed to kill 17 seconds in the process of mass suiciding.

i swear to god, i'm done running CS in st-2 pubs.

As someone who mainly plays in pubs, I know what you mean. :c *pat* I agree that it's gotten way harder since last year to find challenging and equally-matched rooms. Maybe its because a lot of old players have quit and moved on. Half the time, your team has no idea what a touchdown match means (THE BALL DETERMINES THE SCORE--be flexible: move, pick it up, defend the ball carrier while trying to get the ball into the goal, if you failed the first 50 times try a different route, etc.), and they should seriously leave and play DM instead if they aren't trying to work as a team.... =o= Someone told me that the problem is most of those people don't care about improving, and I guess it's true; usually, no one does anything even after I give obvious but necessary advice like "Pick up the ball before the enemy does." Maybe they just can't speak English. :blink:

Once I was so frustrated, I just told my team "there's only so much disappointment I can take" before I RQ'd LOL I sounded like a complete asshole. :whistling:

and i don't really get this perception of the deterioration of pubs... i mean when i started playing one pro could farm 400-500 points almost regularly because people played that bad.. i mean as bad as it is now i rarely see whole teams getting clowned on by one person. im not really trying to say that everyone got better but i don't see how its gotten worse

AP++ and FPs make up for skill.

I'm not saying its impossible but I used to see it on a daily basis, now its a lot less common. As overwin said it probably is because the ap amount has gone up and easier weapons (killing people and getting smacked in the face with a earthbomb). S4 is a game with an extremely high skill cap, new players can't force themselves to get good and most of the 'pros' have AP of some sort so they are inevitably a product of their environment... think there should be less rage at FP compensating guns players and more rage that theres like only 2 gun rooms up at any given time... no matter how good you are with pen,ap, w/e once guns is dead no one will have a place

SO players are more inclined to make rooms, since 1v1 SO isn't as boring as 1v1 normal.
Sheep logic also makes new players more inclined to join the types of rooms that are most popular.

oh believe me i know people in pubs fuck 28 things up for everything they do right but since i came back it seems like they fuck 28 things up for every 28 things they fuck up

Oh, random people in pubs vary from terribad to meh, at least skill wise. Once in a while, you might get decent teammates, but it's usually horrible unless you play with your clan or friends you know. The amount of highly skilled players has been dwindling for awhile, so I'm amazed when I see someone good I don't know.

The combination of newbie friendly weapons and the desire to have AP to become "good" is probably a contributing factor. Too many baddies rely on AP to win. :|

@ Paradise's stuff
Generally 250-300 average when sniping on a bad team. The reason points are lower is because matches are shorter because of AP. FP gives SP, gives speed and gives more survivability. Primarily it's the SP though. Played without FPs while I was anchoring.. I noticed that I was missing anchor opportunities I normally made otherwise. Because of the speed and SP tho, it's easier to score, thus making shorter matches with less points gained because it's 12 points to score counting ball pick up. It's 36 points to pick up the ball and kill their entire team. (Ofc you'd have to get the last hit on all of them, but you know.) However, when I snipe while I'm on a bad team, I'm constantly getting points as long as I'm landing shots. Depends on the day. But I atleast pull out my CS and defend, so 4 points every time they try and score and fail. Which is 90% of the time if it's not 5v1. Regardless, not as many TDs on either side, therefore game is longer and allows for time to gain points.

TL;DR
Shorter matches = less time to get points = fewer points gained

when i said that i meant in 30 minute games

it used to be the case that people could get 400-500 now i do not see it

usually tops off at about 300 in a 30min match
