Hello there, people=)... i guess i've been lurking for a while and stuff... took me a while to make this post... i'm sorta lazy...

So... hi... um... would anyone around here be interested in a melee weapon matchup discussion?... that could end up giving some nice input on how to fight against specific weapons...

I think it would be interesting to see people's views on the different matchups and discuss what strategies can be used against the different weapons... and what advantages/disadvantages matchups they have and stuff...

for one, i belive PS has an even matchup with CS, an advantage over SD and TB and i think... even or slight advantage over bat... and maybe a disadvantage against Breaker... i don't have much experience against good bats or breakers though...

I don't hate swords, I appreciate them as a good part of the game, what I do dislike is swords only.

for one, i belive PS has an even matchup with CS, an advantage over SD and TB and i think... even or slight advantage over bat... and maybe a disadvantage against Breaker... i don't have much experience against good bats or breakers though...

The following assumes PEN vs PEN

CS beats PS
The reason is because the only PS move that can go through CS guard is PS jump attack, and that has a huge delay and is hard to hit with.
What this means is that for a PS user to beat a CS user, the PS user has to have a vast amount more skill then the CS user has because of the PS user's need to maneuver around guard, dodge CS's insane range, and hit his/her own attacks

Not to mention PS dash attack is easily gotten out of by the opponent (as momentum will allow them to "slip out" of it [i.e. if they hold left or hold right they won't get hit by the heavy])

Pro Tip#1: Use your dash for positioning and not for attacking, aim to hit with the heavy

Bat beats CS
The reason is because bat's jump attack can one hit and is fast, and is not as risky to use as PS's stun is.
In the event that the bat's jump attack doesn't one hit, the bat user can left click and if the CS user doesn't dodge away then bat will win. If the CS user /does/ dodge away then the only thing left for you to do is storm wind and kill CS user. I believe if both users are equal skill level then the bat will win out.

Pro Tip#2: Bat's storm wind's delay after attacking increasing after each subsequent attack, with the first spin having barely any delay and the third (and final) spin having a delay comparable to PS dash (without a heavy). Use this to your advantage.

PS beats Bat
The reason is largely due to more maneuverability on the part of the PS (i.e. once bat misses you can ps dash or stun).
In order for a Bat user to beat a PS user (I'm talking about skilled battles btw), the bat user has to be more skilled because they need to either be great at landing their hits (i.e. reading the opponent) or great at utilizing storm wind to counter PS attacks (i.e. reading the opponent and mastery over weapon).

Pro Tip#3: The player who hastily attacks first will probably lose the battle in a 1v1 SO

CS beats Dagger
CS range > Dagger range
Only way dagger can beat CS in a 1v1 is if the CS user is terrible at aiming their attacks.
All cs has to do is wait/taunt dagger into attacking, and if dagger right clicks CS = jump attack + upper cut = dead
and if dagger left click spams = guard -> upper cut

Pro Tip#4: SO sucks ass because of weapons implemented from dagger onward. No depth at all.

Dagger beats PS
Dagger is far easier to use and its light slash can interrupt every single one of PS moves (and can probably do it without any timing on the part of the dagger user)
PS skill needs incredible scaling to match up evenly with a dagger user

Pro Tip#5: If you are PS vs Dagger, keep your distance and don't be hasty. Your window of opportunity is short so make sure you seize it when it comes.

Dagger beats Bat
Same reason as PS, keeping in mind it is even harder for a bat user since they have limited mobility in comparison with PS user.

Pro Tip#6: Why are you still using bat at this point, it's only good for home running people off the map these days

CS beats Twin Blade
TB low damage, high range, high spammability
CS high damage, high range, high spammability, guard function which can only be broken by TB right click which sucks btw

Two users with the same skill = CS will win

Pro Tip#7: Twin Blade is the absolute worst melee weapon in the game. I would honestly rather use a training PS than a Twin Blade, unless I am trolling. It only has a couple redeeming qualities, and those are: a second jump in the form of jump attack and the ability to stun-lock a single person (which is not useful at all in a team game since their teammates will just shoot you down. It's jump attack? Can be easily and more effectively accomplished with any other melee weapon in the game excluding dagger (and not as easily with Breaker). Twin Blade = worst weapon, except when trolling.

PS beats Twin Blade
PS dash spam > All Twin Blade attacks
High speed of the PS dash works beautifully against Twin Blade attacks

Pro Tip#8: If you are PS user facing TB, forget everything you know about melee battling and just PS dash spam your nooby heart out (taking care to aim your dash unlike real noobies)

Twin Blade beats Bat
Bat has no defensive options aside from storm wind (which isn't great), and no approach options aside from storm wind (which again isn't great)
Twin Blade will beat bat because of this (CS has defensive options, PS has offensive options, bat has essentially nothing)

Pro Tip#9: In case you didn't notice, storm wind spam is your best choice if and only if you are facing a similarly skilled player. The third storm wind will knock players down if they get hit with it. That's your opening to read their movements and get in a high-damaging left click/jump attack. Or you can just wait for an opening to rush in and try to attack.

Twin Blade beats Dagger
Dagger has limited range, Twin Blade has higher range
If two same skill level users fight each other Twin Blade will win because the dagger user won't be able to outmaneuver next to the Twin Blade (which the dagger user will have to do because the Twin Blade user should be spamming jump attack on dagger).

Pro Tip#10: If you're dagger user facing a similarly skilled TB user, den you screwed son time 2 run awy

Breaker beats all
The reason for this is GIGAAA DRILLLLL BREAAAAKEEEEERRRRRRRRR

hm... most of my matches against... well... what i have percieved as good CS users have turned into standstills until one of us made a mistake... wich is why i rated the PS-CS matchup as even... though i have generally not met that many really good players though...

but i do agree with most of those... but too tired for lengthy answer now... maybe some other day... or... year...
